Astronaut Leprechaun

Most horror movie goers are constantly on the lookout for the next big shock, which is why sequels are such a certain method to make money. But what happens when horror movie villains travel to space? Here are 5 horror movie villains that ventured to space. Some were successful, while others were not so much.

The Leprechaun

Leprechaun 4: In Space is the fifth in the Leprechaun horror movie series. It's in space, but that's what makes it so awesome. Leprechaun 4 shows how to make a ludicrous idea "special." The movie has realistic effects, imaginative killings, and hilarious Leprechaun lines. If you like the Leprechaun series or horror films, watch Leprechaun 4: In Space.

Pinhead

Hellraiser: Bloodline is a great addition to the series, and it also tells the story of what happened before the first book. The story takes place in the 1700s, in the 1990s, and in the 2200s. I didn't have very high hopes for the fourth movie in the series, and let's be honest: I'm mostly here for Pinhead and the other Cenobites. Doug Bradley is always fun to watch perform because he keeps up that icy, dark, and demonic vibe. This doesn't make sense and is hard to understand, but who cares about any of that? Even if you've seen everything in Hellraiser, you should watch Bloodline just for the scary parts with Pinhead. If you liked Hellraiser or any of Clive Barker's other books, you should definitely read this one. Even though there isn't a lot of logic to it, it's still a really fun trip.

Critters

I have to confess that I was fascinated when I heard that Critters 4 would be set in space. How could they possible outdo the previous Critters films? But then I saw the cast list, and it didn't seem good. Dourif, Brad? What about Angela Bassett? Anders Hove, a well-known Danish actor? I simply didn't see how this could work.

And my worst worries were realized while seeing Critters 4. The plot was poor, the characters were terrible, and the setting was a rip-off of other properties. From a fan's standpoint, what hurts the most is that the elements that made the prior installments distinctive and fun are either totally eliminated or absent. Critters 4 is a terrible disaster and a major letdown.

Dracula

Dracula 3000 is one of those rare bad horror movies that's so bad it's nearly unwatchable. I love to hate Dracula 3000. Even though it's atrocious throughout its entire run time my main gripe is with the ending was a total cop-out left me utterly unsatisfied . I had hoped "Dracula in Space" would be so bad it's good, but instead it was so bad it was terrible. The premise is fun, but the acting is bad, and the dialogue is absolutely unbearable. I recommend watching it if you want to be miserable the rest of the day.

Coolio, too. Coolio is the star. Is it true I said that?

Jason Voorhees

The most notorious follow-up in which the antagonist travels to outer space is Jason X. The man, the myth, and the legend that is Jason Voorhees is indisputable. How he got into space, it doesn't matter. No one has any idea why he's up there. Everything else doesn't matter; all that matters is that Jason is out there, ready to cause (Pinhead in space) mayhem.

Jason X, in my view, is worth seeing for easter eggs and references to earlier Friday the 13th films, as well as his transformation into Uber Jason.

While not everyone will like this film, horror movie aficionados who enjoy gory, cheesy slasher movies should definitely check it out.

Conclusion

Sequels to horror films may be VERY inconsistent. Some follow-up films, such as Leprechaun 4: In Space, take an absurd idea and make it into something extraordinary. Some of them, like Dracula 3000, are so awful that they're hard to watch. It's absolutely worth seeing some of the more notable horror movie sequels in space if you're a lover of the genre. Who knows, you may discover a new favorite slasher film.
